Day Thirty-One: EVO and Screenwriting

7/12/13, 2:13 AM PDT

Stayed up pretty late knocking out chapters of 1Q84. Suddenly, dad walks in my room, telling me he hears noises from our front door, but he doesn't quite know what it is. He's assuming it's an intruder trying to get in.

Guess who couldn't sleep that night? That's right.

My dad. I slept like a baby.

Same day, 2:19 PM PDT

Picked up my sister, then watched EVO 2013 ALL DAY. OH MY GOD, THE MELEE STREAM IS SO EXCITING, I MUST HAVE SCREAMED SO MUCH AT CLOSE GAMES.

I'm sorry if today's entry's gonna be a bit boring since it'll probably just consist of me watching EVO all day. But in my defense, EVO is PRETTY FREAKING AWESOME. So there.

Same day, 5:46 PM PDT

EVO's Melee stream ended awhile ago, so I've been working on my script ever since. Also ate a delicious mango float that my mom made. Layers of graham cracker crumbles, evaporated milk, and mango slices all on top of each other. Like a delicious mango-grahamcracker-milk lasagna. Frozen, like ice cream.

It's the most delicious thing ever. Ever.

Same day, 11:33 PM PDT

FINISHED MY SCRIPT. FINALLY. I'm so proud of it, but now I'm gonna need a bit of help. If you're reading this and you either have airsoft guns that you're willing to loan to me or if you want to act, then PLEASE MESSAGE ME ON FACEBOOK. A film is only as good as the people that become involved in it, and so far the only person involved in it is me, so if we want to make a really good film, we need PEOPLE. It'd be awesome if you could help out, so again, contact me if you're interested!

RFotD: A movie titled "Madness in the First Degree" has a crew of one. One person alone filmed, acted, and edited the entire movie, using green screens and wardrobe changes to play other characters. It took four years to make. That man has never made another movie since.

SGAT: Wrote my short film. Yeah!

Day Thirty: Location Scouting

7/11/13, 11:22 AM PDT

Dropped sister off, then ran for 30 minutes on the treadmill. Probably should start running outside since they're completely different environments. And I don't get a TV to look at while running outside.

Then again, I could get my portable DVD player and strap it to my chest while running so I can watch SpongeBob. Yeah. I'm a genius.

Gonna script for a bit now, see you!

Same day, 4:23 PM PDT

Went location scouting for the first time, or at least without using Google Maps. And by that, I mean I walked to Breen Park to see what I could shoot there.

There wasn't much. I was pretty disappointed. But hey, I saw a seagull that dove into a trash can and hopped out with a trash bag in its mouth. Like a poor man's stork. If storks pecked babies to death instead of delivering them.

What I'm getting at is I saw a seagull go into a trash can, carry a trash bag, and peck at it for 45 minutes.

Highlight of my day. Rewriting my script now, see you in a bit!

Same day, 9:37 PM PDT

Outlined on and off today. Got a bit distracted from Freddie Wong's videos while writing, but I did learn a few things about VFX and editing, so I guess it was worth it.

I promised myself that I wouldn't sleep today until the outline and most of the script is finished. I'm going to follow through with that promise, which means today's entry might be a bit light compared to the others.

RFotD: The large number of Harry Potter fans that visit King's Cross station to take pictures of Platforms 9 and 10 prompted station management to erect a sign saying "Platform 9 ¾."

SGAT: Wrote a lot.

Day Twenty-Nine: A Pretty Chill Dog

7/10/13, 8:51 AM PDT

New stoooooooooooory! IT'S A CHOOSE-YOUR-OWN-ADVENTURE. I AM SO PROUD OF IT. READ IT NOW!

Now back to scriptwriting. Wow, it's just one writing project after another, huh? Just the way I like it. Mhmm.

Same day, 6:04 PM PDT

Got me a haircut. I was a bit reluctant to get one since last haircut I had looked god-awful, but surprisingly, it turned out pretty nice. I still look pretty much the same, but it looks nice nevertheless. This dog thought it was pretty cool too.

Sup, dog.

Afterwards, dad made barbecue chicken in the backyard. Even though it was raining outside.

But that didn't stop him. Not even the grill refusing to work stopped him. You know what we did?

WE GOT FIREWOOD. WE STUCK IT IN THE GRILL. AND WE LIT IT UP.

We didn't make barbecue. We made bricks of coal. Albeit the most delicious bricks of coal we've ever tasted.

Same day, 9:05 PM PDT

More screenwriting! Planning out the locations as I write so that location scouting will be a lot quicker. Back in a bit!

Oh, and check out this Froot Loop my sister found.

This is not a Froot Loop. This is a Froot Bale.

RFotD: Froot Loops were released in September, 1962. Originally, there were only red, yellow, and orange loops. Green, purple, and blue were added later.

SGAT: SCREENWROTE UP IN THIS!

Day Twenty-Eight: WRITING LIKE CRAZY

7/9/13, 3:46 PM PDT

Writing. A bit angry since Nintendo's banning EVO from streaming Super Smash Bros. Melee even though the Smash community raised over 90,000 dollars to get it in the main events. Really wanted to watch Melee this weekend.

7/10/13, 1:26 AM PDT

FINALLY DONE. JESUS. THIS TOOK FOREVER! AAAAAAGH.

DO YOU SEE THIS. DO YOU FREAKING SEE THIS.

But I love it. It's so awesome!

Time to sleep. I'm so tired right now.

RFotD: A person can take a cat nap with their eyes open. Unless under direct medical supervision, they may not know they are sleeping.

SGAT: FINISHED THE LAST WEEKLY STORY I'LL WRITE FOR A MONTH.

Day Twenty-Seven: Nothing But Charting

7/8/13, 9:20 AM PDT

Dropped sister off, now working on my last weekly story before going on a month-long break to work on my script. Gonna be making a pretty big flowchart for it. Flowchart? For a story? Why? You'll see.

Same day, 2:33 PM PDT

Still working on the chart. Dang, it's complex. And I mean complex. I'll post a picture when I make more progress.

Same day, 8:19 PM PDT

JESUS. Not even halfway done and there's still so much to do! Gonna have to pick up the pace if I want to release this on time.

Same day, 10:07 PM PDT

A bit past halfway. Still CRAZY amounts of work to do. LOOK AT THIS.

A diagram of my story so far. And that's BARELY HALFWAY.

This is insane.

OH SHOOT, I FORGOT TO PICK UP MY SISTER.

RFotD: More women than men are tattooed in the US. Interestingly, percentage-wise, women are twice as likely to get tattoo removals as men.

SGAT: Wrote the hell out of my last weekly story for a month.

Day Twenty-Six: Buca di Beppo and a One Direction Scandal

7/7/13, 1:47 PM PDT

Church, then Westfield UTC. There was a sign spinner in the corner and HE DROPPED HIS SIGN. HE DROPPED. HIS SIGN.

I have NEVER seen that happen before, so as soon as I saw it, I EXPLODED.

And then he dropped it again. AND I YELLED EVEN LOUDER.

I can tell this is gonna be a good day.

Same day, 2:14 PM PDT

Eating by the ice rink. Bought me a delicious Simon Burger. Saw one of my parkour coaches here, which was awkward-cool.

Oh, speaking of food, I got order number 1, which makes me feel pretty damn awesome. First the sign spinner drops his sign, then I get order number 1. Today is awesome.

Same day, 4:07 PM PDT

Went to Brookstone. They sell some weird stuff.

Tell me if you get the joke.

They also have A BOWL THAT PREVENTS CEREAL SOGGINESS)

You put the cereal in the top section and slide it down for milk.

AND THIS.

Hawtness.

But on the upside, they sold Apples of Eden, which was pretty rad.

With this, I will control those who are weak in mind! Or throw it at
geniuses and cause brain damage, either way works.

Saw LJ at the Apple store, then went to Sports Chalet to price check the costs of airsoft guns for my film. After around four hours of walking around, I finally went back to my parents and we drove home.

Same day, 6:11 PM PDT

I lied. We went to Target. Sister looked at the One Direction dolls. Look what we found.

WELL. Looks like Harry doesn't got that One Thing! BAHAHAHA.

Bought some Boba, then went to Big 5 to check their airsoft gun prices. They had cheaper pistols and also had wider variety than Sports Chalet. They also had a 20 dollar shot gun, which is pretty sick.

Now we're going home.

Same day, 7:43 PM PDT

I LIED AGAIN. We drove downtown while I slept in the car and sat in a parking lot for around a year before we picked up my dad's friend. Now we're headed home?

NOPE. Buca di Beppo, DAMN IT. I haven't been home all DAY.

Same day, 7:53 PM PDT

Buca di Beppo. Legs ache. No sign of Daehyun anywhere, even in the kitchen, which we got to visit because they gave us a tour for some reason.

Sister drew the most adorable broccoli on their kids menu.

D'awwwwww.

She hates broccoli, but green was the only color she had, so she went with it.

Oh, and they took pictures of us for postcards, which is pretty awesome.

Same day, 9:46 PM PDT

Finally back home. Man, I am exhausted. So thankful to be back. Gonna go plan out my story some more, see you tomorrow!

RFotD: Buca di Beppo means "Joe's Basement" in Italian. "Beppo" is a rare spelling of the nickname for "Giuseppe," which, in Italian, means "Joseph."

SGAT: None really.
