Day Sixty-Four: Animation

8/18/15, 4:13 PM PDT

Today was a very work-intensive day. The bulk of it was editing a little motion graphic video I'm doing. Something sort of like this:

Obviously nothing of that caliber, but you get the idea.

It's very difficult, let me tell you. So much shape manipulation, so many layers, and then after that there's a lot of secondary animation to add to make it pretty to look at.

But yeah, that's how I spent today. Huh.

RFotD: Not every day can be interesting.

Day Fourteen: Lying Down For Extended Periods Of Time

6/29/15, 11:42 PM PDT

Today was a day that largely consisted of me doing this.

Complete with hunchback pose and everything.
(via liborioescobedo.wordpress.com)

Actually, because I have an unusually comfortable floor, it was more like this:

Just imagine that dry riverbed consists of really comfortable pillows
or something.

So yes, today was a really, really lazy day. I played Melee for a few hours, wrote blog entries for a few more hours, played Castle Crashers for even more hours, and now I plan on sleeping for a few hours.

Lazy day. Lazy lazy day.

RFotD: Christina believes that the Blue Knight in Castle Crashers is horrible because his magic is horrible. How misinformed she is.

Day Eight: I Do Nothing

6/23/15, 11:24 PM PDT

Today was a pretty chill day. I went on a movie marathon and watched Good Will Hunting and The Big Lebowski, both of which were movies that I can't believe I waited this long to watch.

Hmm... not much else I can really write about today, since I don't really wanna bore you with a movie review and pretty much all of today was movie watching. Which was great, by the way. I mean I know it's not the most exciting thing to read about on a blog, but for me, it's nice to just have days where I do nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Guess how many times I've used this picture on my blog?
(via SpongeBob/engadget.com)

BUT, the next few days will be way more interesting to write about, promise. Wednesday I'm finishing my video reel to try and take me some jobs. Thursday, squad's coming over to harass Mocha the dog from his peaceful slumber. Friday's gonna be one HELL of a day at Del Mar. And the weekend's the weekend, so it's given that those days will be fun.

But for today, it was just peaceful. Peaceful and relaxing and full of Steve Buscemi.

RFotD: A picture of Steve Buscemi is located inside of Samantha's wallet. Ask her about it sometime.

Day Thirty-One: New Smash 4 Characters

7/14/14, 11:59 PM PDT

They announced a few new characters in the new Super Smash Bros. game today. Take a look at the video.

Now, I'm not big on Fire Emblem at all. I've never played a Fire Emblem game and my knowledge of the series only extends as far as the Fire Emblem characters that are present in Smash so far and the one day in Science Olympiad where I played with Kurtland's 3DS and "accidentally" (intentionally) killed off his entire team in one fight.

But the REAL gold of today's announcement?

Hell. Yes.
(via reddit.com)

CAPTAIN. FALCON. AWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAH. For those of you that read my blog that aren't into competitive Smash like I am, let me tell you why this character is so awesome. In Melee, Captain Falcon is easily one of the HARDEST characters to master for several reasons, reasons which, for the sake of not boring you guys, I will not go into right now. Look it up.

But for those that have mastered the character... my god, is it amazing to watch.

Yeah, I'm a pretty big fan of Melee, haha. And also, aside from napping half the day, I didn't really do much else today.

Huh.

RFotD: I get lazy sometimes.

SGAT: Worked more on my short film. Have a very attractive explosion happening behind Nick right now.

Day Twenty-Nine: Visitors

7/12/14, 11:59 PM PDT

Had a mini heart attack this morning when I practiced the piano. Accidentally hit one of my keys too hard and got it stuck on the "pressed" position. Pretty much this:

...Crap.
(via kansascitypianotuning.com)

Okay, it was less of a mini-heart attack and more of a "flip-the-hell-out" moment. I've had the same beautiful piano for... upwards of seven years now? Yeah, no way was I gonna let it break today.

So I fixed it.

...Somehow. To be honest, I was just frustratingly hitting the key really hard hoping that something would happen and just my luck, it fixed itself. Lucky me, I wasn't ready to tell my parents that I broke the piano that's almost as old as my sister because I tried to play something in fortissississississississimo.

Speak of piano, learning a new ditty today. Still working on Sad Machine, but I decided to learn a new upbeat piece since "Maple Leaf Rag" gets boring to play sometimes and "Original Rags" is too obscure to be appreciated by most people. So now this is what I'm learning:

Memorized about a third of the notes so far, but the version I'm working off really SUCKS, so I have to add in a few extra notes to make it sound nicer on the piano.

Worked on more of my poem, went for a run, briefly got lost during said run, and when I got home you know what was waiting for me?

Visitors.

No... no... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
(via collegecandy.com)

And just my luck, they get here at around dinner time. Me, being the socially inept person I am, decide to hole out in my room and wait until they all leave.

They don't leave until midnight.

Needless to say, since I skipped eating dinner at 6 and went straight to my room after that run, I was STARVING. So I wolfed down large plate of food, which probably wasn't too good an idea since I finished at 12:45 AM and at the end of it, I felt like I was nine months pregnant with triplets.

RFotD: Psychologists say that extroverts tend to seek immediate gratification due to lowered cognitive processes. Hey, I didn't say that, AP Psych did.

SGAT: Almost finished my part of the duet poem. Almost.

Day Twenty-Three: Je Ne Fait Rien

7/6/14, 11:40 PM PDT

Alright, I'm gonna be perfectly honest with you guys. Nothing happened today.

A visual representation of my day.

Seriously. Nothing happened.

The same as above, but in chart form.

Went to Souplantation to eat, came back home, passed out on the couch, then did... nothing.

As you can see, productivity stayed at a constant zero today.

Talked with Samantha a bit, practiced a bit of Melee, watched Kings of Cali 4, ate leftovers for dinner and... nothing.

Check.
(via leadwithintention.blogspot.com)

Well done, Michael. Pats for Michael!

"I'll go get the beverages."

RFotD: When Twister was first introduced in 1966, critics claimed that it was essentially "sex in a box."

SGAT: Worked a bit on Samantha's and my duet poem. Also, possessives with a proper noun and a pronoun are really confusing.

Day Nine: That Goddamn World Cup Game

6/22/14, 11:59 PM PDT

Suuuuuuuuuuuper late entry, my bad. Alright, let's see, what happened today...

OH. I'll tell you what happened today. THAT EFFING WORLD CUP GAME, US VS PORTUGAL. Specifically, I'm talking about this moment right here.

(via thebiglead.com)

(via thebiglead.com)

DID YOU SEE THAT? Literally the last few seconds of the game, US is in the lead 2-1 and what happens? Effing THAT. AAAAAAAAGH, we could've made it to the top 16. Dad practically SCREAMED and mom's jaw didn't just drop on the floor, it detached from her mouth and plunged to its death.

Freaking World Cup, stressing me out.

Oh, and Mango won MLG, that's pretty cool too.

God, I'm really tired. Sorry if today's entry kinda sucks, but other than this World Cup game and writing, nothing really happened.

RFotD: The most goals ever scored in a single World Cup match by one team was 10. Hungary scored 10 goals to El Salvador's 1 during the 1982 World Cup.

SGAT: Got a big ol' chunk of my story done.

Day Forty-Seven: Nothing Interesting Happens. Again.

7/28/13, 2:45 PM PDT

NOTHING MUCH, OKAY. Saw Yasmine at church, visited UCSD to see where camp would be, WHATEVER.

Sorry if the last few entries have been really thin, it's because I'm writing them all today (7/29/13) and I REALLY want to get to today's entry.

RFotD: UCSD's Geisel Library inspired the Snow Fortress in the third dream layer of Inception.

SGAT: NONE OKAY JESUS.

Day Twelve: Nothing Interesting Happens

6/23/13, 12:32 PM PDT

Woke up incredibly late. Was just that tired.

Man, my neck still hurts. Probably gonna take a few more days for the aches to go away. Auuuuuuuuuuuugh. It's so stiff, I can barely turn it 90 degrees either direction. My shoulders kind of hurt as well, probably because I tried to roll my way out of that but half-failed.

Ah well. It happens.

Anyway, the Dangan Ronpa English translation was released today, looking forward to playing that. As of now, it's currently downloading, so in the meantime, doing a bit of reading to pass the time. No, not books. Smogon University. I don't know, I just like reading about the Pokémon metagame without actually playing. Am I weird for doing that? Probably.

Same day, 3:01 PM PDT

Just watched the Duct Tape Canyon special on MythBusters. Parents really got into it too, especially when they rappelled down the cliff with a duct tape rope and built the duct tape/bubble wrap rafts. They've actually considered buying a million rolls of duct tape to store in the car in case anything horrible happens to us and we get stranded. Pretty sure they're big fans of MythBusters now. My work here is done.

Back to writing.

Same day, 9:24 PM PDT

Wow, well so much for writing.

Watched Pokémon Vietnamese Crystal with Christina on TogetherTube. If you don't know, Vietnamese Crystal's basically this bootleg version of Pokémon Crystal originally in Japanese, then translated to Chinese, then to Vietnamese, back to Japanese, and then English, or at least that's the backstory I heard a few years ago, might not be entirely accurate. Anyway, it's ridiculously funny because the translation is just awful. Later, the rest of the Skype group showed up, but they got bored of it real quick, so we watched other things.

After that, got into a Doctor Who marathon, almost finished up season six. Almost to the most recent episodes, baby. I promised Camille I'd finish all the episodes in two weeks, and I came pretty close. Two weeks, four months, just a few letters off, huh?

Same day, 11:35 PM PDT

Woo! Totally unproductive Sunday, first of the summer.

Not good. Not good at all. Curse you, Doctor Who, for being so addicting.

Alright. promise this time. Writing!

RFotD: Americans empty 2.5 million plastic water bottles an hour. Each one takes 500 years to decompose.

SGAT: Absolutely nothing. But I have started planning this week's story.
