Day Fourteen: Lying Down For Extended Periods Of Time

6/29/15, 11:42 PM PDT

Today was a day that largely consisted of me doing this.

Complete with hunchback pose and everything.
(via liborioescobedo.wordpress.com)

Actually, because I have an unusually comfortable floor, it was more like this:

Just imagine that dry riverbed consists of really comfortable pillows
or something.

So yes, today was a really, really lazy day. I played Melee for a few hours, wrote blog entries for a few more hours, played Castle Crashers for even more hours, and now I plan on sleeping for a few hours.

Lazy day. Lazy lazy day.

RFotD: Christina believes that the Blue Knight in Castle Crashers is horrible because his magic is horrible. How misinformed she is.

Day Ten: KamiKon 2015, Day One

6/25/15, 11:28 PM PDT

Today, Angela, Kayla, and Christina came over to harass Mocha and to soil my Nintendo Wii's memory card with subpar games.

Bastards.
(via Angela)

I took a nap right before they all showed up, which meant I was kinda woozy for the first part of them being over. I don't think they noticed that I was half-awake though, even though I was talking at a few octaves lower than normal and I was reacting to everything super slowly.

So anyway, Kayla brought Call of Duty 3 for the Nintendo Wii. As you can expect from an award-winning series like Call of Duty, the graphics were superb and the action was incredibly immersive. Even though it was one of the games that was released with the Nintendo Wii, I felt it completely captured the graphical and hardware capabilities of the new console.

Nah I'm kidding, it was a total piece of crap. Take a look at their launch trailer, highlighting this nice orange-haired boy showing just how immersive the game is.

Given the fact that my sensor bar was at an awkward position and the fact that you have to point the Wii remote to aim, our experience with the third installment of the Call of Duty franchise was mostly this.

Next, we played The Sims. Well, Kayla played The Sims. We just yelled a bunch of suggestions of stuff she needs to do. We managed to make two characters.

The first was a large, African-American professional chef who is incredibly irritable, lazy, outgoing, and grouchy. This was that man:

I would trust this man with my wife life.

His name? Vezpuuccii Gucci.

Ready for goddamn action.

Of course, we couldn't leave poor Vezpuuccii all alone, so we made him a beautiful companion. Personality-wise, she was the polar opposite of him (because opposites attract), she was a park ranger, and she was known to all only by the name "-¢@$#-"

True love.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that we were playing this Sims game:

Complete with bloody volleyballs and Tom Hanks!
(via gamefaqs.com)

So the first thing that happened was that we got shipwrecked. And for some stupid, stupid reason, Vezpuuccii and the wifey got stranded on SEPARATE ISLANDS. So we had to fetch Cash Money from goddamn Airplane Island while we were stuck with a bunch of literal monkeys on Shipwreck Island.

Maybe Vezpuuccii was just that terrible a husband. Cash Money had to literally catch a plane after the shipwreck to avoid him.

We quickly got impatient. We were running out of food. We were running out of water. We were afraid we were gonna die virgins.

Luckily, we found out that we could interact with (and more importantly, name) these guys:

I'm talking about the monkeys, not the social justice warriors.
(via gamespot.com)

We named a monkey "Waifu." And we grabbed a banana, found some bushes, and we were happy.

Later, we went to eat at The Loving Hut, driven by the safe and careful Christina.

Ignore the obvious phone distraction or the fact that Christina
is currently driving a hearse.

We made it relatively safely to Loving Hut though.

I cropped out the tire tracks on Kayla's legs though. But you don't
need to worry about that.

...Except I didn't check Loving Hut's schedule. Apparently, they're closed until 5PM, which was the exact time that Christina needed to be home by.

The exact moment that all three of their disappointment meters peaked.

So we went to Islands instead. We ordered a LOT of delicious food, but again, I'll spare you the food pictures. Christina left at 4:55 or so in hopes that she would make it back home before her mom unleashed a can of Vietnamese Ass-Whoopin on her. She got home at 5:08.

So yeah, Christina's dead. It was nice knowing you.

We went to Old Navy afterwards. We found this shirt pretty interesting.

Thank you, Shia LaBeouf.

See the little running dude inside of the word "IN?" We remembered that the slogan for The X Files was "I Want to Believe" and we thought it would be HILARIOUS if the little guy in the center was an alien.

So I made it so.

I should totally sell this as a shirt.

Oh and I bought this AWESOME cutlery set. It can turn into a spoon, a fork, a knife, and even CHOPSTICKS.

And it's Australian so you know it's good.

Here it is opened, with all its parts.

It's adorable.

Aaaaand assembled (partially). You just switch out the handles for the other heads as you need to.

Totally bringing this to college. Bruins are gonna be
so jealous.

Good day, good good day.

RFotD: That cutlery set cost THREE BUCKS. BUY IT NOW IT'S AMAZING.

Day Nine: My First Step Into Getting A Job

6/24/15, 11:35 PM PDT

Hey, so I finished my video reel today! I'm pretty proud of it, which is why I will leave it right here for potential employers you guys to watch as well.

I'll be using this to apply for various video related internships and jobs in the future, but in the meantime, tell me what you think of it! And of course, if you need anyone to edit your stuff, just hit me up and we can probably negotiate a price/trade or something. I could probably give you a coupon code or something since we know each other.

I finally got a library card as well. Seeing as how I am now an eighteen year old and thus, am now ready to take on the numerous responsibilities bestowed upon me by the government in one fell swoop, I decided on a whim to get it today. And they changed the design, which is pretty cool. Take a look.

It's in a book. Almost looks like a spectrum of reading.

I also spent a few hours at Justin's house playing Melee. I got wrecked most every time, but it was still worth it because I got to practice my tech chases and I got to give him some relationship advice. Although considering the fact that I have the relationship experience of an overturned turtle, it probably won't do him much good.

Don't tell him that though.

RFotD: Libraries that existed in the Middle Ages had their books chained to the wall to prevent theft. Due to the labor-intensive processes that went into every book, even monastery libraries were very protective of their books. And yet somehow, in the modern age, a library was irresponsible enough to give me a library card. They're doomed.

Day Sixty-Four: Jubeat Copious, The Greatest Game Ever

8/16/14, 4:19 AM PDT

This morning, I FINALLY found a reliable and decently-fast WiFi connection, so I dumped a hell of a lot of blog entries. I would've dumped more, but the one I was about to upload had some errors with uploading pictures, so that might have to wait until later.

Hit up yet ANOTHER mall today. Big ol' Glorietta mall in Makati. And I mean BIG. Glorietta is actually composed of five big buildings connected, each designated as Glorietta 1, 2, etcetera. In turn, the Glorietta buildings are ALSO connected to other malls, which include SM, Rustans, Greenbelt, and Landmark. It doesn't really show the immensity of it, but take a look at the picture I grabbed of the spot where the Glorietta buildings all meet.

Biiiiig.

We visited Landmark first since mom wanted to buy a sweater. They had a whole Chinese theme going on to celebrate a Mooncake festival or something.

Not very Mooncake-y, don't you think?

Asking for this picture was a pretty awkward ordeal,
but I did it for you guys.

While looking around, I found a pretty cool pair of sunglasses with one of the lenses missing its reflective bits. I know it doesn't make it too practical, but hell, this pair of monosunglasses is cool.

Maybe if Cyclops could only fire lasers out of one eye, he'd
appreciate this.

But the bulk of my time spent here was in Timezone, the local arcade. Played a bunch of shooting and racing games with my sister, including House of the Dead, which Megan was surprisingly good at.

Firing Glocks and... Kicking rocks? Rhyming is hard.

Being the rhythm game enthusiast that I am, I of course played Guitar Hero, where I got a high score playing Knights of Cydonia on Expert.

It would be impressive if most of the names on this high score list
weren't the default names.

I also found this AWESOME new rhythm game called Jubeat Copious. What first attracted me to the game was it's crazy cool futuristic look.

Look at those crazy squares.

Trippy stuff.

See those white squares in the first picture? The way the game works is that notes would flash on those squares and you had to press them to the beat. Simple, yes, but it gets CRAZY FUN, especially in the fast songs that require you to stretch your hand out and use multiple fingers. Songs kinda like this:

Thanks, Jubeat Copious, for making me live out my Launchpad/Midi Fighter fantasies. I spent around 300 pesos in total playing you while I was here, and those were the best 300 pesos I've ever spent.

"You're welcome, Shawn Wasabi."

I wasn't the only video game virtuoso here though. Check out this guy, who absolutely ROCKED OUT on this drum game.

Oh and we found Om Nom from Cut The Rope impaled on a spike too.

The humanity.

RFotD: You can buy your very own Jubeat Copious machine for the low, low price of 8,000 dollars. Or you can download the free iOS app and try it yourself right now. DO IT.

SGAT: Figured out that I really want that game in my life.

Day Sixty-Two: Awesome Possibiliteas

8/14/13, 1:03 AM PDT

Guess what I did today. Go on. Guess. I'll wait.

No, the correct answer isn't "your mother."

If you said "went to the mall," you're correct! Also, I can hear you through your microphone.

Robinson's had a Just Dance arcade station, which cost 50 pesos (a little over a dollar) to play for 30 minutes. My sister really wanted to play it, on the one condition that someone else from our family dance with her. My parents were too public-shy to do it and grandma would probably break a few bones if she did it, so I stepped up to the plate. We paid a dollar...

And we absolutely rocked out. Even though it was my first time playing Just Dance, I figured out that the main thing the Xbox tracked was a person's right hand, so I emphasized moving that.

That's not to say I didn't just wave my arm like a pendulum. I moved the rest of my body too. I looked a little like this, I think:

Yeah, I was fabulous. I actually got a small crowd of people to watch me. I'm not sure if they were impressed that I had moves like Jagger or if they were laughing at me, or if they were just hoping we'd leave so they could use up the rest of our 30 minutes, but a crowd's a crowd.

Might as well get used to it.

My sister and I also WRECKED this hammer smashing game. Check out our sweet high scores.

IGS got nothing on me.
Not too shabby, Megan.

BRING IT, IGS. Also notice my name in 5th place.

We also played this pogo stick machine where all you had to do was jump up and down on a platform. Or at least, we tried to.

It's a really small display, huh?

It couldn't take my massive, massive weight.

I also bought more bursting bubble tea from Cobo. Mango-peach tea with mango bursting bubble things. I bought the same thing from the same vendor so frequently that they actually remembered what I normally get today.

I just became a regular.

Too bad I leave Butuan tomorrow.

RFotD: I haven't posted a legitimate random fact in weeks.

SGAT: Befriended the people that make Cobo tea at the mall.

Day Fifty-Six: Bootleg Toys

8/8/14, 4:04 AM PDT

I rediscovered "Plague Inc" on my phone today. Two years ago, I was absolutely OBSESSED with this game, I beat every plague type on the hardest difficulty and pretty much beat the game 100%. Since then, I pretty much just let it sit in my iPhone.

You can imagine how surprised I was when I opened the app today and found they added a NEW hardest difficulty, a new plague type, customizable genes that you had to unlock, AND new scenarios.

And I thought I was on vacation.

Yeah, I got to work. And tell you what, compared to Brutal, the hardest difficulty back then, Mega-Brutal is EVIL. Brutal was a cakewalk for me, but DAMN, Mega-Brutal absolutely WRECKS ME when I play. But the new Zombie mode is REALLY cool. Haven't been able to beat it yet on anything harder than Normal, but I'm working on it.

Later, we went to Gaisano again to buy my sister a toy for surviving the blood sample that she needed to have to be diagnosed. There were a BUNCH of bootleg toys in here that I thought was hilarious.

First there's the name-changed ripoff toys to avoid copyright lawsuits:

Like the guy that writes Sherlock, right?

Owning it is your best choice! Better than college and a job!

The Autobots accidentally landed in North Korea.

These guys just got lost.

Then there's the awkward translations:

It's temperature is only 70°F. Hardly cool in my book.

"I can cook, clean, do dishes... Please I'm so lonely."

This one's not too awkward, I'm just amazed
that they said "circumgyrate."

Notice how the phone itself has NOTHING to
do with Angry Birds.

And then there's the toys where the manufacturer stopped caring completely.

Raphael now comes with a shiny Lightning
McQueen!

The Claw really messed that alien up.

That snake in her boot was unfortunately a
carrier of the Rage Virus.

There was this cool little thing too.

Real? Fake? No one knows, but it's still cool.

Also, my grandma's dog has PUPPIES. They're adorable. Even though they're covered in ticks and probably have a skin disease, but hey, cuteness comes in many forms.

In the aaaaaarms offfff the aiyyyengels...

Fly awaaaaaaaaaaay from here...

This one got a little too close to the camera.

There we go.

The proud mother. I think.

Oh, yeah, we have a goat. I forgot to mention that.

Hi.

RFotD: The time it takes for an update to save is directly proportional to the amount of pictures in the post. This post took 45 minutes just to upload.

SGAT: Got into the swing of using this tablet even though it's been sitting in my closet untouched for over a year.
